The absolute best is Norton Internet Security 2008. It offers a 2-way firewall, best anti virus and anti spyware and does not bloat down your system. Contrast to popular belief, AVG anti virus FREE is not a solution to anti virus problems- it might help remove threats if you know you have one but It includes no real time scanning- which can leave threats on your PC without knowing it
Norton, McAfee or Avast if you want a good free program.
AVG or Avast
The best I have found is the Grisoft AVG 7.5 both their anti-virus and spyware have performed flawlessly for me. The best thing is that they are free. Go to: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/ING/US
you will not be disappointed.
To protect your exisisting files Norton total package is best but it does not protect if u r a internet browser. For net browsing AVG latest version or Threatfire is the best. With my experience Threatfire is the best in six months the free soft ware did not give me any problem. Where i spend 1000/- of rupees did"t solve the problem. I am very happy with the Threat Fire. I got it through digit magazine free dvd.
