If you go to filehippo.com you can download these virus programs for free. The best programs are AVG, Windows Wall Defender, and AVIRA.
Get either Avast! Home (http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10019223.html ), AVG Free (http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition ) or AntiVir Free (http://www.free-av.com/en/trialpay_download/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html ).
I personally use Avast! Home on all of my PCs, but any of these 3 programs will do. I’ve never had any virus troubles with Avast!, even after years of use.
I also recommend using a free firewall such as ZoneAlarm alongside it (http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/zonealarm-pc-security-free-firewall.htm ).
